A long time coming

Hunter is now one year old and into everything! He walks, although still a little wobbly. He is a joy to be with and I miss him greatly! I graduated from community college this past summer and am a juinior working on my undergrad in elementary ed/special ed. Have a blessed Christmas!

Waiting on baby Hunter...

It has been awhile since I wrote anything. This semester's classes have been killers! We are still waiting for baby Hunter to make his appearance. Kristen had a good day today, no cramping or back pain. I keep praying it is soon!
Ok, so I have found charm packs. Love them!! Could buy them every week! I am almost done an Anka's Treasures table runner and it went together beautifully. I used Three Sisters Peace on Earth. Can't wait to buy more! Found a new blog, Sweet Liberty. Has great site recommendations!
Found a wonderful new long arm quilter not far from me. She did a beautiful job on my Nana quilt. My Round-a-bout quilt is ready to be taken to her and I will have her do custom quilting on it instead of my regular meandering.

Fall is Here!

It has been a few weeks since I last posted. School keeps me so busy! This online Philosophy class is a killer. I really don't care if the ontological argument does or does not prove God's existence. I know He is there! :-)
My last posting talked about buying fabric in Annapolis for a quilt designed by Heather Mulder Peterson of Anka's Treasures. I am proud to say I have finished the quilt top! I am so excited, as is my hubby who has been bugging me to hang something in our two story foyer. He wanted to hang a 6 ft. coat of arms...ummmm NOT! I am excited to start a new project, but it will probably have to be Christmas gifts! I always do something special for a special friend of 20+ years, not sure what that will be yet.
My little grandson seems to be wanting to make an early appearance. Kristen is showing signs of things happening. At her last OB, they said he is engaged in the canal and her cervix is very soft. They sent her to get two rounds of steroid shots to help his lungs develop. Next appt. is Tuesday so we will see! We may have a little pumpkin instead of a turkey!
I love this weather! I put the flannel sheets on the bed and do we love that! I think I sleep better with flannel sheets on the bed!
Last week I went to visit Becky and Chris in Atlanta for Becky's birthday. Needless to say, we had a fabulous time going out (and staying out until 3:30 AM!) and went to several wonderful restaurants. I went by myself, as hubby was too busy at work, but it was kinda a girl's weekend anyway!
I am hoping to post more quilts soon that I have made in the past so be on the lookout!

Trip to the Quilt Shop

Yesterday, my mom and I traveled to Annapolis to visit Cottonseed Glory Quilt Shop. It is quite a shop! They have 6,000 bolts of fabric. I had found a quilt in a magazine recently that featured designer Heather Mulder Peterson. I fell in love with all of her quilts but decided to make her Round About quilt for the large wall in my foyer. I went to this quilt shop because they carried the fabrics that Heather used. They did not have the specific fabric, but with that many bolts of fabric, I had no problem choosing similar fabrics. It was awesome! I have already started to cut my pieces and can't wait to start sewing. Check out Heather's designs and her blog on Anka's Treasures. She has wonderful patterns!
I love this time of year. The weather is amazing. We have had our windows open for days. Probably reek havoc on my sinuses but it is worth it. We are planning a trip To the ATL to see Becky for her birthday. I am sure with my crazy daughter, it will be a blast.

All About Me

My name is Ellen and I live on the east coast. I love to sew, cook, bake, read, and spend time with my wonderful husband. We have six kids all together. Three are married, and my daughter, Kristen and her husband, Nate, are expecting their first baby, Hunter William, on Thanksgiving Day! My step-son, Matthew, is currently serving his third tour in Iraq. We love you Matthew and pray for you everyday! I am very involved in our church and am a born-again Christian. I am a part-time college student, working towards my undergrad in elementary ed/special ed. I am a busy bee so we will see how often I get to post!
